The National Approach Parliamentary Party calls for the enactment of the Marshlands Law

The National Approach Bloc called for the enactment of a special law for the marshes, as they constitute a national wealth.
Member of the bloc, MP Hassan Al-Asadi, said in an interview with Al-Sabah: “The law on the marshes is still in the legal committee,” explaining that “last year, 75 MPs signed a law on the Iraqi marshes that aims to provide and improve services, as they have witnessed chaos in the service movement and management of the file throughout the previous years and successive governments since 2003.”
He revealed that “a proposal was submitted to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the signatures of the members of the House were collected, and it was submitted to the legal committee in order to enact a special law on the marshes, as they are linked to several ministries, each of which blames the other.”
Al-Asadi added that “the law would unify all these ministries under the name of a special body for the marshes that is concerned with the economic, political, service and environmental affairs of the marshes, and is responsible for developing the reality of the marshes.”
The bloc member stressed that "this is the only solution that will contribute, if the law is passed, to unifying the efforts of the relevant ministries for this issue," explaining that "the legislation of the law will be followed up after the legislative holiday and there will be priority for the legislation of important laws during the next legislative session."
