Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani sponsored, on Monday, the official ceremony held in the capital, Baghdad, on the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the Twentieth Revolution, while stressing that without strong ties, the various tribes and personalities would not have joined the Twentieth Revolution.
Al-Sudani said during the ceremony, and Mawazine News followed him, that “the making of history did not happen anywhere in this world as it happened here between the two rivers,” indicating that, over the past hundred years of transformations and interactions, the roots of awareness are linked to the revolution of the twentieth century, and to the idea that emerged from it. The meanings of modern patriotism, and its symbols that established the concepts of combating the forces of colonialism and hegemony at that time.”
He added, “By celebrating the 104th anniversary of this national popular revolution, we have renewed our adherence to the moment of pride in which it was born, for the tribes and personalities to join it, fulfilling the fatwa of the supreme authority at that time, and it was the spark that paved the way for the revolution.”
Al-Sudani explained, “The current generation stood in 2014, under the shadow of the blessed fatwa of the authority of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid al-Sistani, may his shadow be long, in the face of the defeated ISIS.”
He stated, “The modern Iraqi state, in its institutional form, was born after the twentieth revolution and its blessed sacrifices,” explaining: “Today we are united by a permanent constitution, a shining name for our country among the nations, and a state that is proud of the blood of martyrs and fighters.”
Al-Sudani continued, "Today's Iraq, all segments of society contributed to its construction and sustainability," pointing out that "the decisive role of our Iraqi tribes emerged in the twentieth revolution as a social component that contributed with great sacrifices."
He continued, "The clans still represent a gateway to security and popular cohesion, and a pillar of stability and confrontation of dangers."
He pointed out that "the beacons that were lit by the twentieth revolution pass through the support of the state and its armed forces, and the extension of law, equality and justice throughout Iraq."
Al-Sudani stressed, “The support of the people, including their social and cultural elite, for the revolutionaries of the twentieth century was through them seeking a state that preserves dignity and unity.”
He pointed out that "we have no choice but to fortify the state and its institutions, and enhance their effectiveness through the constitution and the law."
He added, "Our celebration of the anniversary of the twentieth revolution is embodied in these tasks that the government has committed to completing sovereignty and ending the mission of the international coalition and any form of foreign presence on the land of Iraq."
Al-Sudani concluded: “We will not deviate from the mission of completing sovereignty as a goal for our government despite the challenges, supported by legislative and constitutional institutions.”
