President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received, on Wednesday, a written message from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
A presidential statement, of which Mawazine News received a copy, stated that "Saleh received, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, in the presence of Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.
The statement added, "At the beginning of the meeting, the minister conveyed the greetings of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar to the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, and handed him a written letter from Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani that included an official invitation to Saleh to visit Qatar, while the President, the Minister, loaded his greetings to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, also discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to enhance them in the service of the common interests of the two brotherly peoples, in addition to developments in the relevant regional and international situations.
Saleh said, "The countries of the region have a great responsibility to overcome crises and tensions by coordinating efforts to support dialogue and push the paths of political solution to settle problems in them, work to stabilize regional stability, confront terrorism and extremist ideology, and support opportunities for economic and commercial cooperation and development."
He stressed, "Ensuring the security, stability and sovereignty of Iraq is a basic foundation and a common interest for the security and stability of the entire region and the interests of its people."
For his part, the Minister affirmed "Qatar's support for joint action with regional and international parties to preserve the region's security and stability," noting "his country's commitment to support the security, stability and sovereignty of Iraq, and to enhance joint bilateral cooperation in various fields."
