    Professor of Political Science at Al-Mustansiriya University, Issam Al-Faili, confirmed today, Wednesday (June 26, 2024), that the Baghdad Provincial Council is facing a real test that will either fail or succeed, as to how it will succeed or not.
    Al-Fili said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that the problem of services in Baghdad still exists, especially because of the overlapping powers between the capital secretariat and between the council and the local government, and as is known, the tasks of the local government are concentrated on the outskirts of the capital, but this issue requires two things, the first "The second thing is to dismantle the overlapping powers and to develop a strategic plan from a practical perspective."
    He stated, "The Baghdad Provincial Council is witnessing a conflict between more than one political party, within one component or between other components, and this affects its work."
    Al-Faili added, “The outskirts of Baghdad Governorate need attention and investment companies to build new cities there, as what has been built there are marginal cities and most of them lack infrastructure,” noting that “the development of these areas will show the success of the Baghdad Council and the local government or not, and this is what will be revealed.” During the next few months."
    The political science professor concluded by saying, "The age of the Baghdad Provincial Council is short. There is difficulty in evaluating its work and performance, and the areas that are subject to the authority of the Baghdad Governorate will be the real test in the success of the work of the council and the local government."
