    Economy News - Baghdad
    Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Water Resources announced the removal of 24,416 violations of all kinds on water quotas in Baghdad and all governorates of the country, in coordination with the Joint Operations Command.
    The Ministry explained, in a statement received by Al-Iqtisad News, that the campaign to remove violations included filling in surface fish lakes, burying 8,436 illegal underground wells, and removing 4,409 unlicensed agricultural pumps installed on irrigation projects, in addition to closing 7,761 illegal outlets established on irrigation canals.
    She added that the work of removing 1,816 siphons and 1,420 water plungers, in addition to removing 574 various other violations. It also indicated the continuation of work to remove rubble from the banks of the Tigris River in the Al-Bu’itha area, with the aim of preserving the section of the river inside the capital, Baghdad, and allowing flood waves to pass easily if they arrive.
    The Ministry confirmed that these works aim to address water scarcity and secure water quotas for liquefaction stations and agricultural lands in all governorates.
