An Arab meeting to discuss 6 cooperation mechanisms in the fields of land and maritime transport

Cairo - Mubasher: The joint meeting of the technical committees for land, maritime and multimodal transport will be held at the headquarters of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport during the period from 6-8 April 2021.
The General Secretariat of the Arab League stated that the agenda of the joint meeting included a number of issues related to the Arab transport sector, which are headed by the reservation of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Article (5/1) of the Agreement to Regulate Transit Transport between the Amended Arab Countries.
The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States added that the second item of the meeting agenda deals with the establishment of an Arab company for the transport of goods between Arab countries, and the necessity and importance of establishing an Arab organization for road transport for passengers and goods between Arab countries, and the third is to discuss the sixth draft. For the draft agreement regulating the maritime transport of passengers and goods between Arab countries.
As for the fourth item on the meeting agenda, it includes a pilot study on a proposal to establish national maritime gatherings in the Arab countries, and the fifth is to discuss the draft terms of reference for studying the establishment of a joint Arab mechanism to support the repair and shipbuilding industry in the Arab countries.
The meeting will also discuss the draft terms of reference for studying the establishment of a database in the field of ship repair and shipbuilding industry in the Arab countries.
The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States noted that the recommendations of the joint meeting will be submitted to the next session of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Transport Ministers (June 2021) for consideration.
