The delegation, headed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Hala Zawati, also includes the Assistant Secretary-General for Energy Affairs in the ministry, Hassan Al-Hiyari, and the Jordanian ambassador to Baghdad, Montaser Al-Zoubi.
The Jordanian delegation will discuss with Iraqi ministers and officials the outcomes of the Iraqi-Jordanian-Egyptian tripartite summit that was held in Baghdad last June.
Among the most prominent projects between the two countries are the electrical connection and the pipeline for transporting oil from Basra to Aqaba, in addition to importing Iraqi crude oil.
In September 2020, the governments of Jordan and Iraq signed a contract to connect the electricity grid and sell electric power between the two countries, according to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
In December 2020, Jordan confirmed that it would be ready to supply Iraq with electricity in 2022.
Jordan announced earlier the agreement to develop cooperation with Iraq in the field of aviation and maritime transport, in addition to the agreement that the port of Aqaba would be a terminal for the export of Iraqi oil.
The Minister of Industry and Trade, Maha Ali, visited Baghdad last Monday, accompanied by a delegation comprising representatives of the public and private sectors, with the aim of following up on the implementation of the economic outcomes of the tripartite summit.
