The mayor of Baquba, Abdullah Al-Hayali, confirmed, on Saturday, the recovery of more than 500 dunams belonging to the state that had been seized by land mafias in Diyala Governorate.
Al-Hayali said in a statement to NRTToday, (17 July 2021), "the campaign of the mayor of Baquba, in cooperation with the city's municipality, prevented the distribution of state-owned plots by influential people."
He explained, "The campaign resulted during this year in preserving more than 500 dunams from the seizure and returning them to the municipality of Baquba."
