    A member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Abdul Rahim Al-Shammari, confirmed on Tuesday (August 24, 2021) that the investigation file opened by the committee in the ration card items and other contracts of the ministry is suspended as a result of political pressure.
    Al-Shammari told  IQ News , "The Parliamentary Integrity Committee has opened the file of preparing the ration card items for citizens, and it has been proven that there is a clear and major shortcoming that is borne by the Ministry of Commerce as the responsible party."
    He added that "there is an imbalance and suspicions of corruption also hovering around some of the contracts that took place within the ministry in successive governments that caused a lot of money to be wasted," noting that "many of the ration card items are no longer asked by the citizen because there is no seriousness in providing them."
    And he indicated that "today, most of the contracts go towards preparing the flour material and not others, and this matter raises a lot of doubts," explaining that "the file of interrogating officials in the ministry about negligence or suspicions of corruption in some files is suspended due to political pressure."
