Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Air Navigation Company mortgaged on Sunday the country's airspace to the British company (Serco), after renewing its contract with fantastic sums of money.
The Iraqi Council of Ministers had decided, in its session held in Nineveh, on August 16, 2021, that “the Director General of the General Company for Air Navigation Services took over the contract with Serco for air traffic control for a period of one year, as a maximum, to start its work from The date of signing the contract.
On (August 23, 2021), the Minister of Transport, Nasser Hussein Bandar, formed a committee to renew the contract with the British “Serco” company, to monitor air traffic and navigation in Iraq, for a period of one year, based on the decision of the Council of Ministers to do so.
An informed source told Shafak News Agency, "The company changed three general managers within only three months, in order to sign this contract," noting that "the fourth director signed the contract without even referring to the members of the board of directors."
The source explained, "Most of the air traffic controllers and employees reject this company, because it causes great harm in terms of the salaries and allowances of its employees."
The source noted, according to the information he owns, that "the salary of one employee in the company (Serco) ranges between 70 to 80 million dinars, and it may reach 100 million," noting that "the employees that the British company will bring are between 15 to 20 employee."
Earlier this year, a member of the Presidency of the Iraqi Parliament, Hassan Al-Kaabi, criticized the British company (Serco), and confirmed that it did not provide any service to Iraqi air navigation.
It is noteworthy that the British company (Serco) has in the Middle East more than 4,500 people in three countries except Iraq, namely the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
