Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Transport discussed the establishment of a national maritime grouping for the Iraqi maritime sectors.
The media of the Supreme Iraqi Naval Authority stated, in a statement received by the "National News Center", that "the committee in charge of establishing an Iraqi naval grouping, and in the presence of the Director General of the Technical Department in the Ministry of Transport, Captain Kifah Hassan Jabbar, and at the headquarters of the Supreme Iraqi Naval Authority, discussed the mechanisms of forming the grouping."
The Director General said, according to a statement, that "this came based on the directives of the Minister of Transport, Captain Nasser Hussein Bandar Al-Shibli, and that the aim of establishing the assembly is to advance the maritime reality and develop the work of companies operating in maritime trade, whether in the public or private sectors," adding that "it was formed during this time." The meeting is a committee to write the assembly’s bylaw for the purpose of presenting it to the Council of Ministers and obtaining official approvals for that.”
Captain Kifah Hassan said during the meeting that "this gathering will be part of the Arab grouping of maritime companies that was presented by the Arab League after the meeting of Arab transport ministers."
The statement continued, "The meeting was attended by representatives of the Iraq Ports and Maritime Transport Company and the Oil Tankers Company, in addition to a representative of private sector companies and representatives of civil maritime organizations concerned with maritime affairs."
