The Border Ports Authority announced, on Monday, the adoption of new procedures that serve gold importers, including reducing import and export wages, raising reissue quantities, and approving the Basra International Airport port, in addition to Baghdad and Najaf airports.
In a statement received by Mawazine News, the authority stated, "The head of the Border Ports Authority, Omar Adnan Al-Waeli, participated in a dialogue seminar held by the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce for traders of gold, jewelry and precious metals, in the presence of the President of the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, Firas Al-Hamdani, representatives of the relevant ministries, and a number of gold dealers and importers." The symposium included a discussion of the important axes facing the process of importing and exporting gold, jewelry and precious stones.
She added, "Al-Waeli gave a detailed presentation on the paragraphs of Cabinet Resolution No. 335 of 2017 on the import and export controls of gold, and expressed his full readiness to support importers and encourage them to practice their trade through the federal ports represented by Baghdad and Najaf International Airports."
And she added, "The requests to attend were listened to and written down to find quick solutions to them, and the Border Ports Authority will be close to all importers and in all fields in order to remove all obstacles facing the commercial process," noting that "these efforts come from the authority's field work in following up on the needs of The people of the country and standing with them in a way that serves the public interest and the interests of the citizens.”
And between Al-Waeli, according to the statement, "the procedures and interest of the Border Ports Authority and its council in following up on this file and ensuring the simplification of the procedures that make our ports attractive, as this topic was presented in the authority's council session No. 12 of 2021 and voted on 3 paragraphs that serve importers, including reducing import and export wages and raising quantities Re-issue and approve the port of Basra International Airport in addition to the airports of Baghdad and Najaf Al-Ashraf, and raise the recommendations made by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control that support the facilitation of gold trade, pending submission to the cabinet sessions to issue the appropriate decision.
