Mishaan al-Jubouri sets the scenario for the parliament session after the Federal Court's decision

On Tuesday, a member of the House of Representatives, Mishaan al-Jubouri, commented on the decision of the Federal Court in the case of reopening the door for nomination to the presidency.
Al-Jubouri said in a tweet, "The Federal Court decides on the right of the House of Representatives, not its presidency, to reopen the door for candidacy for the position of President of the Republic when one of the candidates does not obtain the votes necessary to win the position."
Al-Jubouri added, that this means that "the next session of the Council will be to vote on reopening the door for candidacy again for the position of President of the Republic and not to vote on the position."

The Federal Court ruled, earlier, that the reopening of the nomination for the post of President of the Republic was unconstitutional, stressing the possibility of reopening the nomination door again by a decision of the House of Representatives and not from the Presidency of the Council.
The court confirmed that there is no "constitutional or legal text that grants the Presidency of the House of Representatives the authority to reopen the door for candidacy for the position of President of the Republic."
And the court decided, according to its decision, that “the re-opening of the nomination for the post of President of the Republic is unconstitutional,” noting “the possibility of reopening the door for nomination again for the position of President of the Republic, but by a decision of the House of Representatives and not of the Presidency of the Council.”
Today, the Federal Supreme Court held its session to consider the appeal to open the nomination for the post of President of the Republic.
A statement by the Supreme Judicial Council stated, "The Federal Supreme Court held its session to consider the appeal to open the candidacy for the post of President of the Republic again."
The Federal Supreme Court had postponed the decision on the claim of reopening the nomination for the post of President of the Republic until today, Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
