    The Department of Industrial Development and Organization at the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, through the Quality Management Department and ISO, held the first meeting of the National Initiative for Energy Support and Reducing Emissions in implementation of the recommendations of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers on 2/8/2021 submitted by the Ministry of Environment regarding energy support for the quality and ISO departments in the Ministry of Industry and all formations affiliated with it and how to develop the appropriate mechanisms to activate procedures for the use of clean, environmentally friendly energy, in the presence of members of the ISO Energy Team Committee (50001) in the aforementioned department, the Administrative and Financial Department at the Ministry’s headquarters, and a number of managers of quality departments in the Ministry’s companies.

    During the meeting, the important aspects of raising awareness and covering media coverage for managers of quality departments in all ministries were reviewed, as well as the objectives of the initiative, which included supporting energy sustainability and reducing losses by identifying non-influential sources of the environment, determining the effort required to install energy consumption meters on sites and contributing to Iraq's commitment to meet the requirements of Iraq. The Framework Convention on Climate by reducing emissions and promoting the concepts of preserving the environment.

    The Director of the Quality Department in the Ministry, Mrs. Kholoud Ibrahim Alwan, stressed the importance of raising awareness of the issue of energy use, especially environmentally friendly energy, which contributes to reducing electrical energy consumption and reducing the proportion of gases harmful to the environment through preparing real plans and implementing them in the ministry.
    The meeting also included discussions and proposals by the directors of quality departments in the Ministry's companies on several logical and important topics that would contribute to the success of the work of the national initiative and its activation through holding training courses during the coming period, which contribute to building and developing the capabilities of the participants.
