The Oil Products Company confirmed, today, Friday, that the volume of fuel smuggling amounts to 7 million liters, while indicating that some stations belong to influential people.
The Associate Director General of the Oil Products Distribution Company - Director of Inspection, Ihsan Moussa Ghanem, said during his hosting of the Honest Program, which is shown on Al-Iraqiya News, and followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "some owners of private stations practice a policy of "arms" with the Ministry of Oil," referring to "National stations lack corrected thermal counters."
He added that "the Ministry of Oil's acquiescence means the state's acquiescence in front of manipulators, and that the ministry has annually lost 3 trillion as a result of providing services to citizens," noting that "the closure of some private stations did not affect the company."
And he added, "All the private stations have returned to open their doors," noting that "
He stressed that "five fuel smuggling stations were seized within one week," explaining that "smugglers use modern technology to smuggle fuel to Kurdistan through brokers from the region who entered Baghdad."
And he indicated that "the volume of fuel smuggling is 7 million liters, and Iraq's consumption is 30 million liters of gasoline," noting that "Iraq produces about 15 million liters of gasoline."
He added, "The Karbala refinery will open at the end of 2022, and its production will reach 9 million liters."
