    Information/Baghdad...
Economic expert Safwan Qusay explained on Thursday that there is increasing growth in the demand for electricity at a time when Iraq still needs gas to generate energy, pointing out the importance of searching for other solutions to ensure access to electricity.
Qusay told Al-Maalouma, "The contracts concluded with Siemens, Total and other companies have been signed with the Ministry of Electricity to invest in the gas associated with energy production based on Iraqi gas."
He added, "Iraq continues to need to import gas, especially with the high growth rate in terms of the need for electricity, as the cessation of gas flaring is expected to be in 2028, which means that Iraq's need for gas, amounting to 3 cubic feet, can be provided from within."
He pointed out that "there is a possibility of expanding in the field of electricity generation by relying on clean energy, as well as hydroelectric power, as well as nuclear energy, which can reduce dependence on fuel in electricity generation." End 25N
