Iraq aspires to lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the coming period.
The Prime Minister's Advisor, Dr. Hussein Flamers, said in his speech during the ceremony honoring 25 winners of the International Programming and Artificial Intelligence Competition and the Arab Robotics Championship, which was attended by "Al-Sabah": The artificial intelligence file has its effects reflected on the future of the Iraqi nation, considering it the core of the concerns of societies that believe that youth are the pillars of the state and its daughters, especially since the government is proceeding to invest in the energies of youth through programs and initiatives and encouraging competencies, innovators and leadership.
Flamers added, during the celebration that carried the slogan (Artificial Intelligence is our path to the global labor market), that Iraq has historically been a beacon of knowledge and helped in laying the foundations of human civilization, and was even a cradle for successive civilizations, and here we are today on a transformational journey from the world of leadership in establishing the first revolution in this direction, so we aspire to lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and this requires work, vision, possibility, knowledge, ability and will.
He pointed out that our vision for Iraq in 2050 is to be at the forefront of global innovation and progress, as one of the most prominent goals that the Iraqi government seeks to achieve is to build a transparent government system that seeks to achieve justice, development and welfare for society and how to contribute to making it a center for developing skills, creativity and excellence and creating an empowered and capable generation in the field of applications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the Middle East and North Africa, which has pioneering experiences in the field of information technology, digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
The Prime Minister's Advisor explained that one of the most prominent goals of the Iraqi government is to develop educational and pedagogical work in this direction and to provide a competitive educational and training environment that encourages creative thinking and develops the capabilities of children and youth through participation and organization in such events that meet the needs and aspirations of rising generations in the fields of engineering and technology.
He pointed out that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani's honoring of the winners of the International Programming and Artificial Intelligence Competition held in Dubai from 3-6/5/2024 and the Arab Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Championship from 26-28/4/2024 held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is evidence of the Prime Minister's keenness to build capacities among talented individuals who possess skills that make them think in different ways and tend to innovate in their ideas through those talents with a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and creating educational materials in schools and universities, especially in the world of creativity and innovation, and establishing a national culture that encourages leadership.
Business.
In turn, the head of the Federal Strategic Planning and Service Committee, Laila Al-Tamimi, pointed out that the societal culture has prevented many women from obtaining equal opportunities in education in all fields, and some of our daughters still suffer from the right to obtain education, especially in rural areas.
She added in her speech that depriving girls of access to education, especially in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, means depriving the world of the ingenuity and innovation of half the population.
Al-Tamimi stressed the need to work on two basic and important issues, the first of which is the commitment to girls completing their education in the field of science and technology and enhancing their participation in society by finding and creating real job opportunities for them in a way that benefits their peers first, to reduce their deprivation of job opportunities in a way that benefits society with its public and private institutions.
She explained that the vision is not far from the international vision, so we stress and emphasize the need to advance women's participation in the field of science, technology and intelligence as an important aspect of sustainable development emphasized by the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
