    On Thursday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced its intention to expand the coverage of private and public sector workers with social security, while confirming the adoption of periodic examinations for workers referred to medical committees every year instead of six months, whether the disability is a disease or a work injury .
    The Director of the Department of Retirement and Social Security for Workers in the Ministry, Kholoud Hiran Al-Jabri, said in a statement, “The ministry is in the process of expanding the umbrella of social security coverage and is continuing to demand the legislative authorities for the purpose of legislating the new security law, which will include new branches represented in the voluntary guarantee, guaranteeing workers in the unorganized sector and ensuring disruption of work.     Al-Jabri added, “The past period witnessed an increase in the number of secured projects, and insured workers who were included in the Retirement and Social Security Law for Workers No. 39 of 1971, and an increase in the number of retired workers for cases of old age, disability and dementia, noting that the ministry had adopted measures that would alleviate the burden of auditors from insured workers. In the Department of Retirement and Social Security for Workers .
    And regarding the periodic examination of workers referred to the medical committees, Al-Jabri explained that “it will be every year instead of six months, whether the disability is a disease or a work injury, and it will depend on the initial medical report regarding the periodic examination and not to send the report to the appeal medical committees, except in the case of a request This factor is provided that the percentage in the event that it rises from 15 percent or more than the percentage referred to retirement, and this procedure will shorten the review to one time per year instead of eight times .”
