Today, Saturday, the Federal Ministry of Electricity has determined its actual need for gas to operate power plants in the country, while confirming that the Iranian side understands Iraq's need.
The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Moussa, said that "the ministry is in contact with the Iranian side to raise gas emissions sufficiently to operate power stations in Iraq," noting that "there is an increase in gas emissions, as the paid gas has reached 40 million cubic meters per day."
Moussa added that "the ministry is discussing with the Iranian side to gradually increase these launches," stressing that "the Iranian side understands Iraq's need."
He continued, "We currently need from 50 to 55 million cubic meters of Iranian gas, and we hope to reach this amount by communicating with the Iranian side."

And the Ministry of Electricity announced, last Wednesday, the actual start of the process of repaying the Iranian gas debt, while confirming that Iraq's need amounts to more than 50 million cubic meters per day.
