The media office of the National Security Adviser, Qassem al-Araji, announced today, Sunday, the start of joint work with the United Nations to end the file of returning Iraqis from northeastern Syria, and the dismantling of the Syrian al-Hol camp.
Al-Araji's office said in a statement, "The latter chaired today, Sunday, the founding session of the Iraqi and international working groups, concerned with implementing the international framework for the return of Iraqis from northeastern Syria, and the dismantling of the Syrian al-Hol camp."
According to the statement, Al-Araji opened the session with a speech in which he stressed the importance of working to end the threat posed by Al-Hol camp, and the international community assumed its responsibilities towards this file, noting that "the Iraqi government took a brave decision and started implementing it since May 2021."

He pointed out that "the session resulted in the formation of four Iraqi and international sub-groups, in the areas of (legal protection for children, security and accountability for adults, rehabilitation, reintegration and transitional services)", noting that "in light of this, during the session, joint work was announced under The sponsorship of the Iraqi government and the United Nations, to end this dangerous and sensitive file."
