The American Media Line network revealed details received through Gulf newspapers close to the ruling regimes about what was circulated during the second Baghdad summit, which was held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, last week, and witnessed the presence of representatives of the countries of the region, including Iran and Turkey.
The network stated, during a report translated by (Baghdad Today), that “the summit made it clear beyond any doubt that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard still controls power in Iraq directly after the administration of former US President George Bush presented Iraq on a silver platter to Tehran, through its wrong policies.” as she put it.
And she added, “The summit witnessed attempts by the leaders of Arab countries and French President Emmanuel Macron to reduce Iranian influence on the country, especially after the coup that Iran-linked parties carried out against the past elections, during which they managed to eliminate the winner and control the government,” according to her description.
And she indicated that "the parties associated with Tehran succeeded in assuming Al-Sudani as prime minister, as they see it as a less provocative and effective version of former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki."
The network pointed out that "those gathered sensed from the speeches of Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Abdul-Hayan, Tehran's readiness to negotiate about its influence in Iraq with the United States of America," stressing that "Iranian influence in Iraq, which has become exposed, is being used by it as a pressure card on Western powers." In an attempt to revive the nuclear negotiations again.
According to the network, "the American side did not show any interest in the Iranian offer to negotiate the future of Iraq, with the United States focusing its attention on the role Iran plays in the Ukrainian-Russian war, more than its role in Iraq."
The network saw that “the current Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani, did not show any strength during the negotiations that were held, as he focused on the problems of water and electric power during the negotiations, ignoring the points raised by the conferees about the Iranian role in the country and the escalation of drug smuggling by Iran through Iraq to Gulf countries and Jordan,” according to its description.
The network’s report concluded by emphasizing that “the outcomes of the summit showed that the situation in Iraq will remain as it is now, confirming the existence of international and Gulf intentions to hold other conferences aimed at reducing Iranian influence on Iraq further, which requires direct cooperation and the desire of the Sudanese government.” , as she put it.
