    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Monday, the coordination framework revealed the most prominent reasons that led to the change of the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb Makhaif, while indicating that the changes will affect other positions.
The leader in the framework, Turki Al-Atbi, confirmed in a statement to (Baghdad Today) that "the change of the governor of the Central Bank is expected 3 weeks ago," noting that "the change was presented in more than one session of the Coordinating Framework Alliance and for various reasons, the most prominent of which was the mistakes in managing a vital file that pushed pressure on Currency exchange markets and the rise of the dollar, which reflected negatively on the country's economic situation in general.
He added, "The changes will not stop at the Governor of the Central Bank, but will affect other important positions within the strategy of correcting paths," stressing that the leadership of the framework did not interfere in the selection of candidates for those who were dismissed from their positions, and the matter is left to the Sudanese and his government team.
He pointed out that "part of the dollar's rise is internal factors related to management and general policies of the central bank that require rapid changes that help contain the dollar crisis, and this is the goal of the recent changes."
Earlier today, Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani ordered the dismissal of the Central Bank Governor, Mustafa Ghaleb Makhaif, and assigned Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq to run the Central Bank by proxy.
Today, Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Suadni decided to refer the director of the Iraqi Trade Bank to retirement, while Bilal Al-Hamdani was assigned to manage it in addition to his duties.
And Al-Sudani had taken, yesterday, Sunday, urgent decisions to “address” the exchange rate of the US dollar against the local currency, during his meeting with the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce to discuss treatments for the fluctuation of the exchange rate of the foreign currency .

Very good news...it had to happen; the US was putting pressure on this move. Now the meeting in DC early February ought to be interesting.
