The State of Law Coalition affirmed that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani's move to replace some conservatives would not "harm the political parties."
The leader of the coalition, Kazem al-Haidari, said in an interview with "Ultra Iraq", that "the issue of replacing the governors does not involve a specific political plan, but rather a choice made by the prime minister, in order to move the wheel of reconstruction and the provision of services, and to end some cases of corruption that took advantage of the absence of provincial councils." Noting that "there are governors who provided good services to their provinces after not being bound by the councils, and on the contrary, there are those who took advantage of the absence of councils and oversight and manipulated the provinces' capabilities and financial budgets, so they must be replaced."
The leader in Maliki's coalition stated that the political parties will keep their shares of the conservatives, even if they are affected by the change measures.
Al-Haidari pointed out that "the evaluation prepared by Al-Sudani to know the performance of each governor through the deputies of his province is considered the first step, while the second step is the existence of standards and a special evaluation that Al-Sudani conducts for each governor," noting that "the evaluation will not exclude any of the governors."
The leader of the State of Law Coalition, led by Nuri al-Maliki, explained that "the political parties to which the governors included in the change belong, in the event of proven negligence or suspicions of corruption, can offer an alternative."
Al-Haidari stressed, "The replacement procedures will affect 4 governors, so that they can serve as an example to others, as some provinces record large cases of corruption, while others witnessed a clear improvement in services, as in Basra."
And Al-Haidari indicated, "The whole matter depends on the decision of the prime minister, as the first executive body, and responsible for the governors, and there will be no complacency at all in this file at all."
