The Parliamentary Health Committee said that the specialized governmental and parliamentary programs support the establishment of drug factories and encourage investment in the drug sector, while the Pharmacists Syndicate revealed that 25 local factories will reach the final stages of opening in a year.
Committee member Asmaa al-Ani said in an interview with "Al-Sabah": There are several appeals to the committee regarding the continued lack of treatments in public hospitals, especially medicines for cancer diseases, especially in the centers concerned with them and spread in the country's governorates.
And she emphasized that the governmental and parliamentary programs support the localization of medicines and the opening of new laboratories for them by encouraging investment opportunities, since the currently available ones do not meet the purpose, revealing that there are plans for agreement between the Investment Authority, the Ministry of Health and the House of Representatives to increase their number, especially since the government program has put the development of medical services within His priorities, which was reflected in the Prime Minister's first visit to hospitals.
Al-Ani expressed her hope that the 2023 budget, which has not yet reached the House of Representatives, will contain provisions to encourage investment in pharmaceutical laboratories, in addition to supporting Kimadia laboratories and Samarra medicines, to cover the needs of hospitals, calling on the government to allocate funds to the Health Committee and health institutions to strengthen the position and purchase of medicines. , or the establishment of factories to manufacture them inside Iraq.
For his part, the spokesman for the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate, Muhammad Sherkhan, explained in a statement to "Al-Sabah" that the challenges are very great for the development of the pharmaceutical industry in Iraq, which has 25 existing pharmaceutical factories between the public and private sectors, revealing 25 additional local factories that are under construction and it is hoped that they will reach the next stages. Final opening a year later.
He stated that the positive shift in the issue of the pharmaceutical industry is that the new government, since its first day of work, has taken care of its matter, which the Minister of Health reflected during his meeting with the Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries, by providing many facilities, pointing out that the private sector constitutes in the national pharmaceutical industry, a ratio of seven to ten Only 63 percent, compared to 63 percent for the Jordanian pharmaceutical industry, which requires stimulating and developing the national industry and within the ideology of the open market.
