    The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities is working on preparing strategies for the new residential cities project as part of its plans to provide housing units and plots of land for all citizens.
    "The strategy of distributing residential land among citizens is one of the main strategies that the state has pursued to provide adequate housing for them," Reconstruction Minister Benkin Rikani told the official newspaper, "Al-Sabah," noting that "the housing problem cannot be solved by distributing land without providing services." .
    He added, "Most cities have lost their nature and basic design, due to the intensification of random construction and the lack of organization of the process of distributing services, and that the ministry decided in light of this to build new residential cities adjacent to the current cities, with the preparation of modern basic designs for them, roads and services of their own," continuing that " Following this strategy will provide, within 15 to 20 years, new areas that are more attractive than the old ones, and include various types of services, and with the passage of time, citizens will move to them.”
    In the same context, Rikani affirmed that "the ministry is in the process of implementing 15 new cities, and it is currently working on developing strategies for implementing them and determining who will undertake the provision of basic services for them, since the financial costs will be very high," pointing out that "the axis of work in the capital will focus on areas Northeast of Baghdad, southeast of Baghdad, as well as its west, in order to create an attractive environment in it
