    Baghdad today - translation
The head of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, revealed today, Wednesday, that the government headed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani will not agree to pass the deal with the French company "Total Energy", which amounts to 22 billion euros.
Al-Maliki said, according to an interview with the French newspaper "La Figaro" and its translation (Baghdad Today), that the Sudanese government "will not pass the agreement unless the French company agrees to its terms," explaining that "the agreement can be passed, but only if the demands of the Iraqi government are taken into account, the matter which has not yet been achieved."
He continued, "The conditions included in the contract with France's Total were not satisfactory, and the major companies must respect the decisions of the Ministry of Oil if they wish to sign contracts with them," as he described it, noting that "these decisions relate to service contracts, not production directly."
It is noteworthy that the CEO of the French company Total confirmed earlier that his company "will not risk implementing the contract signed with the Iraqi government unless a final political decision is taken about the conditions from Baghdad and it is notified officially," noting, according to what was reported by (Baghdad Today) yesterday, Tuesday. He added that he communicated with the Iraqi authorities during the past month and "did not reach any results."
