Iranian President Hassan Rowhani said on Monday that US President Donald Trump should return to the nuclear deal if he wants dialogue with Iran.
Rohani spoke in a meeting with American media after arriving in New York to attend a session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In response to a question on whether he would meet US President Trump and North Korea's leader, Rohani said the comparison is not accurate at all, and North Korea is completely different from Iran.
"Trump has taken a number of wrong steps against Iran and the Iranian people. He withdrew without justification from the (nuclear) agreement and imposed sanctions on the people and interfered in our internal affairs," he said. "Above all, compensation must be paid for what he did."
The Iranian president said that the United States' attempts to deprive Iran of its right to export oil are unrealistic and may even be "very dangerous", stressing Tehran's adherence to the nuclear agreement if all other signatory parties abide by their commitments.
In May, Donald Trump announced Washington's withdrawal from the agreement between Iran and the six major powers (Russia, China, the United States, Britain, France and Germany), which restricts Tehran's nuclear program in return for lifting UN and unilateral sanctions.
Trump pledged to preserve old sanctions and impose new sanctions on Iran.
A number of US sanctions went into effect on August 6, including the automotive manufacturing sector and trade in gold and some minerals.
Restrictions on the export of Iranian oil will come into effect on October 5.
Other signatory countries have expressed their dissatisfaction with the US withdrawal from the nuclear agreement, declaring their commitment to its terms. The European Union also established a system that prevents the entry into force of US sanctions on its territory and prohibits its application by European companies. End 25 n
