Today, Wednesday, Iran expressed a new position on Iraq regarding its efforts in the Riyadh and Tehran talks.
A statement by the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was received by (Baghdad Today), stated that "The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for bilateral relations, Muhammad Hussein Muhammad Bahr al-Ulum, met with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad, Muhammad Kazem Al Sadiq."
The statement added that "the two sides discussed bilateral relations, and ways to enhance them in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly peoples, and stressed the necessity of convening the joint Iraqi-Iranian committee between the two countries."
The agent expressed, according to the statement, "his satisfaction with the agreement reached between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the restoration of relations between the two countries, as they discussed developments in the situation at the regional and international levels."
The statement continued, "The two sides also exchanged visions and ideas about the crises that the countries of the region are exposed to, and the need to undertake peaceful solutions, in a way that establishes the foundations of stability and achieves security."
Regarding the Iranian position on Iraq and its endeavors in the Riyadh and Tehran talks, the Iranian ambassador expressed his "gratitude and thanks to Iraq for the constructive role it played and for hosting the talks of the two sides in Baghdad during the past period," according to the statement.
