    The Ministry of Water Resources reaffirmed that the country's water reserves will not be sufficient for the current year, noting that it is not possible to risk summer cultivation and cause a problem during the next winter season.   
    Minister Aoun Diab Abdullah told the official newspaper, "Meetings are still continuing with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Supreme Coordinating Committee, in order to decide on a plan for the next summer season, given the lack of water storage currently available within dams and reservoirs, and the various available revenues are not sufficient for the current year." Thus, it is not possible to risk summer farming and cause trouble for the country during the next winter season.”
    He added, "His ministry is trying to secure at least sufficient water storage for the first irrigation of the wheat crop within the next winter season, until the rains come later," stressing that "his ministry's current plan includes giving priority to drinking water and human uses, in addition to irrigating orchards and vegetable crops." ". 
    He explained, "Agriculture will be specific for the next summer season, especially for the rapeseed crop, given that it consumes large amounts of water, as it depends on the traditional immersion method," noting that "in light of this, its cultivation in the country may be postponed within its season, which begins at the beginning of June every year. 
    He continued, "In light of this, the ministry is seeking to adopt technologies for irrigating the cashew crop by the dry method, but it needs large financial capabilities and long periods of time before it enters into force," revealing in the same context its ambition to grow the strategic alfalfa crop by the dry method through irrigation. subsurface drip". 
    And regarding the maximum benefit from the available water imports, the Minister of Resources revealed "efforts to establish a new dam to harvest water near the Ain al-Tamr oasis located in the heart of the desert, west of the holy city of Karbala, at a distance of 40 km, and the ministry is in the process of preparing special studies for its construction," noting that "the dam aims to Enhancing the groundwater reserves of the oasis, to serve the springs in it, which are inhabited by more than 30,000 people, and is an important tourist area.
