Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Industry and Minerals confirmed offering 32 investment opportunities in 9 governorates in several fields during the Mineral and Petrochemical Investment Conference, while clarifying the desired economic gains.
The scientific advisor to the Minister of Industry, Ammar Al-Janabi, said to the official channel, followed by (Al-Oula News): “The ministry is working to remove gaps and all obstacles that impede the advancement of Iraqi industry and make it a major contributor to national income and support the country’s budget within the framework of a strategic plan that received support from Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani.” His visit to the ministry was a bright sign that allowed the removal of restrictions on investment in mineral resources.
He added, "This matter enabled the ministry to provide 32 large investment opportunities in 9 governorates from north to south of Iraq for investors, including opportunities in phosphate, sulfur, cement, petrochemical and nitrogen fertilizer projects."
And he continued, "The opportunities were announced today during the Mineral, Petrochemical, Fertilizers, and Cement Investment Conference as partnership contracts, not investment contracts, and the aim is to exploit the country's wealth, attract modern technology, employ the Iraqi workforce, and fill the country's need for these materials, and the workforce will be from the formations of the Ministry of Industry."
The Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khaled Battal, confirmed today, Wednesday, during the activities of the Mineral, Petrochemical, Fertilizers and Cement Investment Conference, that “this conference is the first of its kind held by the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, which we look forward to establishing a real partnership with internal and external private sector companies.”
He added, "The current government, headed by Eng. Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, has set among its priorities the advancement of the Iraqi industrial sector in the fields of mining, fertilizers, petrochemicals, cement and other fields to contribute to achieving the goals of the Iraqi national development plan in terms of increasing the industrial sector's contribution to the gross domestic product and providing job opportunities and Iraq's aspirations." To achieve the goals of sustainable development 2030 through optimal exploitation of the mineral wealth and minerals that God has endowed with Iraq and its people, whose exploitation was unfortunately delayed due to the circumstances that Iraq went through from repeated wars, the latest of which was the war with the terrorist ISIS gangs, which led to the destruction of many of the factories of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals.
He continued, “For example, the phosphate fertilizer plant in Al-Qaim, the nitrogen fertilizer plant in Baiji, the Al-Mishraq sulfur plant in Mosul, and many other factories. Therefore, in order to restore work with these factories, the government represented by the Ministry of Industry and Minerals decided to hold this conference to offer opportunities for participation to exploit our natural wealth through the establishment of factories.” Completely new to keep pace with industrial technological development.
And he continued: “As the affected factories are from the seventies and eighties of the last century, if not older than that, which is reflected in the increase in production and its quality, in addition to taking environmental standards and determinants for no reason.”
The minister pointed out, "The vision of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals in the next stage is to focus on strategic industries that contribute to creating job opportunities for Iraqi youth."
