The spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals, Dhuha Al-Jubouri, announced that the first Baghdad International Forum for Industry and Mining, which will be held on October 12 and 13, will witness the presentation of many investment opportunities related to the mining sector and industrial cities, in addition to other industries "in a transparent manner."

Dhuha Al-Jubouri confirmed to the Rudaw Media Network, today, Monday (September 23, 2024), that the investment opportunities "will be presented in a transparent manner to public opinion and in the presence of a large number of representatives of the private sector from Arab, foreign, and local companies."

She pointed out that "many foreign companies have confirmed their presence, in addition to Arab companies," which are companies specialized in "strategic industries and mining."

The spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals noted that the ministry is still receiving requests to attend "through the email and phones that it announced."

    "The Year of Mining"

Regarding the ministry's plans for this year, she indicated that the year 2024, as announced by Minister Khaled Batal Al-Najm, is the "Year of Mining", which is an important sector and one of the strategic industries for primary and basic materials for many industries, especially since Iraq has many raw materials.

"This is the first time" that the Ministry of Industry and Minerals has presented investment opportunities "in a transparent manner to the public," stressed Duha Al-Jubouri.

In this context, she recalled the Investment Partnerships Forum in Basra Governorate, and the Mineral, Petrochemical, Fertilizer and Cement Investment Conference in Baghdad Governorate, which were held by the ministry earlier, and witnessed "the signing of participation contracts for many industries."

Among these industries are refined sulfur, compound fertilizers in Baiji, Abu Al-Khaseeb fertilizers in Basra, glass industry in Anbar Governorate, and the expansion of the chlorine plant in Babil Governorate.

She added that the previous two conferences "encouraged the ministry to hold the Baghdad International Forum for Industry and Mining, which will also be a successful conference," stressing that it will witness the presentation of investment opportunities related to mining.

Regarding the law under which the Ministry of Industry and Minerals operates, she explained that it is “not the investment law, but the partnership law that allows the ministry and its companies to enter into partnerships with the real private sector.”

She stressed this point by saying that “the ministry worked during this period to ensure that the partnerships are real by choosing the best partner in terms of experience and financial soundness,” confirming that the ministry has “successful partnerships with foreign companies.”[/rtl]
