The Agriculture and Water Committee in the House of Representatives on Sunday called on the government to activate the law to protect the agricultural calendar and local products of all kinds.
"The government and the concerned authorities should ban the entry of agricultural products in particular, which conflict with the local product and activate Law No. 11 of 2010 on the protection of local agricultural, industrial and animal products," member of the committee, Salam Al-Shammari, said in a statement received by Mawazine News.
Al-Shammari stressed the need for "the government to support and support the local product of all kinds of animal wealth of fish, poultry, fruits, vegetables and other products, and to prevent the import of the local product."
The law is in line with the new changes that have occurred in the Iraqi economy and the opening up of markets to international trade and for the purpose of building a national industry and to avoid harm caused by harmful practices of policies dumping products markets or unjustified increases in imports or imported products supported by exporting countries to the Republic Iraq, leading to the loss of fair competition conditions and for the purpose of taking appropriate measures to protect Iraqi products and local producers
