Today, Friday, the Ministry of Migration and Displacement announced the inclusion of a category of "returning" immigrants in the distribution of residential plots, while confirming that the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, directed the governorates to sort the share of the returning immigrants included in the plots of land.
The ministry's spokesman, Ali Abbas, said, "There is a new decision to distribute plots of land to the category of immigrants abroad, not the displaced, including those who are eligible in the years (2007-2008-2009) and have not been handed over to them yet."
Abbas added, "The ministry found most of the governorates lagging behind in implementing the cabinet law that it approved in 2008-2009, regarding the inclusion of some groups of immigrants abroad in the municipalities' law in distributing lands."
And he continued, "Minister Evan Faiq Jabro raised, during the cabinet session, the reluctance of some governorates to include this segment in the distribution of plots of land, despite the existence of a law stipulating it."
He stressed that "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani directed the governorates to sort out the share of returning immigrants who are included in the distribution of land."
