On Tuesday, Baghdad Governorate clarified the mechanism for determining the quantities and prices of fuel for private generators.
Assistant Governor for Energy Affairs, Qais Al-Kalabi, said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency (INA), followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "Baghdad Governorate and the Oil Products Distribution Authority depend on the official report that arrives before the end of each month regarding the operation of electric power for the next month," pointing out that "this report is the standard that is adopted as a fuel share, as well as setting prices for owners of generators operating in Baghdad."
He added, "According to the directives of the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, as well as with the follow-up and guidance of the Governor of Baghdad, Muhammad Jaber al-Atta, the owners of generators are followed up by all officials of the administrative units to know the violators among the owners of the generators, follow them up, and cooperate with them in all applicable procedures and controls," stressing that "there is a great commitment in the past period by the owners of the generators after providing them with the fuel quota, as well as giving free grants of fuel rations to generators that do not have a quota."
He pointed out that "there is coordination with the force holding the land by the National Security and the Federal Police and all the security forces concerned with this issue, as well as officials of the administrative units and energy committees, as well as the mukhtars in order to follow up and hold the violators accountable and impose the maximum penalties in accordance with the controls and laws."
