    The interim Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Iraq in Warsaw, Miqdad Ayoub Al-Mandalawi, affirmed yesterday, Monday, Iraq's keenness on economic and tourism openness with Poland, while noting the importance of amending the air transport agreement and re-operating flights between the two countries.
    A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received by Al-Iqtisad News, stated that “the interim Chargé d’Affairs of the Republic of Iraq in Warsaw, Miqdad Ayoub Al-Mandalawi, received today in the embassy building, the Director of the Communications Network Department and the Director of Operational Implementation in the Planning Department, representatives of the Polish Airlines Company (LOT).” During the meeting, the possibility of amending the air transport agreement between the Republic of Iraq and the friendly Republic of Poland, signed in 1961, was discussed.
    He added, "In the embassy building, they discussed reaching an agreed upon formula to update a number of articles of the air transport agreement between the two countries and adapt them to the economic and technological developments that the world is witnessing today, in addition to deliberating on re-operating direct flights between Iraq and Poland."
    Al-Mandalawi reviewed, “The security and economic developments that Iraq is witnessing, especially the large economic projects announced by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, such as the development road and the large Al-Faw port, in addition to Iraq’s hosting of major international events and meetings such as the Baghdad Conference, the Arabian Gulf Cup Championship, and many other events.” Political, economic, cultural and other sports, pointing out that Iraq has become a tourist and economic destination for countries in the region and the world.”
    He stressed Baghdad's keenness on "economic and tourism openness with Warsaw, noting that the Republic of Poland represented a tourist destination for Iraqis in the sixties and seventies of the last century, and that Iraq was at the forefront of the Arab countries that signed an air transport agreement with Poland, and has a partnership with it that extends for decades."
    For their part, representatives of Polish Airlines expressed their desire for “the idea of ​​amending a number of provisions of the air transport agreement between the two countries signed in 1961, and adapting them to the great economic and technological developments taking place in the world of civil aviation.”
    They stressed that "the re-operation of flights between Iraq and Poland comes within the plan of the Civil Aviation Authority and Polish Airlines to expand their flight network with Middle Eastern countries, especially after the opening of the new airport in Warsaw."
    They pointed out that “it is a reliable partner for its Iraqi counterpart, and wants to build long-term cooperation, pointing to the desire of the Polish Airlines company to expand the air transport agreement between the two countries to include Erbil International Airport.”
