On Thursday, the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives revealed the most important points that it will discuss with the Ministry of Finance in an upcoming meeting regarding the Council of Ministers’ decision to increase the salaries of retirees and lower grades.
Committee member Mustafa Al-Karawi said, in an interview with the official news agency, that “the government’s decision to increase the salaries of retirees and do justice to the lower grades (eighth, ninth, and tenth) must be studied with the Ministry of Finance.”
Al-Karaawi added, "The most important points that must be discussed with the Ministry of Finance are the repercussions and impact of these decisions, and the imbalance these steps will cause between the seventh and eighth grades."
He continued, "The increase that included the eighth grade may be more than the seventh grade, which will cause injustice to employees in the seventh grade, so those details will be reviewed in the coming days in the Finance Committee."
He stressed "the importance of fairness to all segments of society to achieve social justice," expressing his hope that "there will be an amendment to the salary scale to achieve justice for all job grades."
Yesterday, Tuesday, the Council of Ministers approved a lump sum increase of 100,000 Iraqi dinars on the salaries of retirees, in addition to granting lump sum allocations of 50% for the salaries of the grades (eighth, ninth, and tenth) of the salary scale.
