Information / Baghdad...
The Ministry of Commerce decided, on Thursday, to adopt the new variants of the electronic ration card system in 6 governorates.
The Ministry said in a statement received by Al-Maalouma, “The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce for Administrative Affairs, Sattar Al-Jabri, chaired a meeting of the committee to count the numbers of families who were blocked and deleted within the database of the new electronic ration card system, since the start of the modernization process until now, in six governorates.”
The agent confirmed, according to the statement, that “in implementation of the directives of the Minister of Commerce, Atheer Al-Ghurairi, the committee held its first meeting in the presence of committee members from the public administrations in the departments of commercial control, planning and follow-up, the General Company for Foodstuff Trade, the technical team in planning, and the representative of the World Food Program.”
He added, "The updating operations resulted in the discovery of hundreds of thousands of deceased people, travelers, and other numbers who did not go to register their data to be registered in the ministry's database."
Al-Jabri pointed out, “The committee recommended adopting the variables produced by the process of updating family data for the electronic ration card in the governorates of Najaf, Baghdad, Karbala, Dohuk, Muthanna, and Kirkuk, in order to target those actually eligible for the ration system.”
He pointed out, "The modernization operations began in Najaf Governorate in late January 2023, followed by the governorates of Dohuk, Kirkuk, Muthanna, Karbala, and the Al-Ma'amel neighborhood in Baghdad in mid-May, and Baghdad Governorate for the branches of (Al-Mutanabbi, the Master of Martyrs, and Muhammad, the Messenger of God) in the middle of July."
