Oil reveals 4 giant projects in Basra

[rtl]The Ministry of Oil detailed the details of 4 strategic projects that it agreed with the French company Total to implement in Basra Governorate, specifying production volumes and expected time limits.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Extraction Affairs, Bassem Muhammad Khudair, said while chairing a meeting with the French company Total, “The South Integration Project will be implemented in Basra Governorate in the Artawi field, which consists of four projects and represents a large file at the level of the economy and the development of the oil industry at the oil and gas levels. Among its four projects are the development of... Artawi field, bringing production to 210 thousand barrels per day, in addition to a gas processing project for five important fields, including Artawi, Majnoon, West Qurna 2, Al-Lhais, and Al -Touba, with a capacity of up to 600 million standard cubic feet.

He added, "The gas processing project will be in two phases, the first of which is an investment of 300 million standard cubic feet, and the second phase is of the same value," pointing out that "the third project is seawater desalination, As the water is subjected to desalination and is provided with high specifications to be injected into the oil fields to maintain the depleting reservoir pressure.” And to increase production.” 

He pointed out that “the project will see the light after years of waiting as the contract was signed with Total,” pointing out that “the fourth project represents solar energy with a capacity of 1000 megawatts,” indicating that “the project is consistent with the countries' policy of using clean energy.” There are many job opportunities that it will provide, amounting to more than (60%).” 

He continued, “The committee held a second meeting to determine the project policies, in addition to following up on the implementation of plans, monitoring performance, and addressing problems,” explaining that “the meeting was like a review of what was implemented after the first meeting.” And the approval of some of the projects being undertaken, as well as the employment policy and the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policy.” He pointed out that “the project is progressing with good steps and its ambition is to combine joint efforts by the contractor and its partners and between the Basra Oil Company and the South Gas Company in order to implement the project according to the required timings.” “In line with the state’s vision and strategy and the vision of the Ministry of Oil.”[/rtl]
