    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Today, Tuesday (November 21, 2023), the President of the Federal Supreme Court, Jassim Muhammad Al-Amiri, considered “using Parliament in a direction that does not serve the people and the nation is a deviation from the democratic process.”
Al-Amiri told the official agency, “The Federal Supreme Court bases the fairness of its decisions on the Iraqi people, and its decisions are clear and binding, and failure to implement them is a constitutional violation.”
He pointed out that "the Federal Court pronounces its decisions and other parties must implement them," noting that "using Parliament in a direction that does not serve the people and the nation is a deviation in the democratic process."
He called on "Parliament to be the bearer of the sanctity of the tasks that embody the hopes and aspirations of the people," indicating that "the people's highest interest is through preserving public rights and freedoms."
Al-Amiri stressed "preserving Iraq's unity, integrity, independence, and federal democratic system, as well as preserving the independence of the judiciary and the correct and proper application of the constitution and the law."
He stressed that "independence should not be allowed to be compromised by any external or internal party, and all countries must take into account the principle of the independence of the judiciary in Iraq."
The President of the Federal Court noted that "the constitution is not the property of a party, entity, or nationality, but rather it was accomplished by the Iraqi people."
