The head of the region said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that this is a correct and important step that helps in the correct progress of the reform process within the Ministry of Peshmerga. We wish him success and support him in every way.
He added that the situation of the Kurdistan Region and the challenges in Iraq require the political parties, especially the Democratic Party and the National Union, to strengthen consensus and unity of ranks and reach a common understanding to resolve the problems and differences between them, explaining that for this we, in the presidency of the region, will continue our efforts.
Today, Monday, Shorsh Ismail returned to exercise his duties as Minister of Peshmerga in the Kurdistan Regional Government, and called on the Kurdish parties to cooperate.
Ismail said in a press conference: “We want all parties in the Kurdistan Region to help us organize our forces to fight ISIS or any danger facing the Kurdistan Region.”
Ismail stressed the need for “full cooperation with the international coalition,” noting that “starting the reform process in the Peshmerga in cooperation with the two main parties in the region (the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan).”
Shorsh Ismail had interrupted his work as Minister of Peshmerga Affairs more than a year ago, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Peshmerga assumed the duties of the minister in his absence.
