Sheikh Abdul Sattar al-Dulaimi, one of those close to the Taqadum Party in Anbar, confirmed on Thursday that the Taqadum Party held an expanded meeting in the presence of party leaders and members to elect a party president to succeed the ousted Muhammad al-Halbousi.
Al-Dulaimi said in a statement to the Maalouma Agency, “The headquarters of the Taqadum Party in the city of Ramadi witnessed a closed meeting in the presence of all party leaders and members to choose a new party leader to succeed the ousted President Muhammad al-Halbousi, amid disagreements among the leadership after the features of the coming period became clear, in isolation from its former president after the arrival Unannounced demands that the ousted president be made aware of his intention to leave the party and move toward other political alliances.”
He added, "The meeting of the Taqadum Party came against the backdrop of the nearness of a decision by the Election Commission to request the Taqadum Party to choose a new president instead of the ousted President Muhammad al-Halbousi after the decision to terminate his membership by the Federal Court."
He pointed out that "a number of party candidates removed pictures of Al-Halbousi from election propaganda."
He continued, "The party leaders failed to choose an alternative to the ousted President Muhammad al-Halbousi," stressing that "the meeting did not produce a satisfactory result for everyone after verbal tensions took place that led to the meeting ending without choosing an alternative to the ousted president."
