More than 10 days have passed since the end of voting for the provincial council elections, and also more than a week since the start of manual counting and sorting for more than two thousand stations out of more than 38 thousand stations, but the final results of the elections are still not announced yet, amid... It is likely to be announced today, Thursday.

While questions have risen about the reason for the delay in announcing the final results, the Commission stands on solid ground, claiming that the announcement of the final results is linked to the completion of the decision on the complaints received. While the Commission expected to announce the final results within a short period of time, the density of complaints, especially the complaints that coincided with... After starting manual counting and sorting.

Since the end of the voting process on the evening of December 18, until December 21, that is, within 3 days, the number of complaints reached 118 complaints regarding the preliminary results of the elections.

After the start of the manual counting and sorting on December 21 until December 24, that is, within 3 days of the start of the manual counting and sorting, the number of complaints became 419 complaints, meaning that the number of complaints reached approximately 300 new complaints.

In total, the final number of complaints as of December 26 reached 454 complaints, which means that the number of complaints after the manual counting and sorting is approximately 4 times greater than before the manual counting and sorting. In summary, the frequency of complaints received by the Commission after the manual counting and sorting increased by more than 250%.

The Commission’s handling of this large number of complaints, which exceeded the number of complaints in the 2021 parliamentary elections, which amounted to only 379 complaints, led to a delay in announcing the final results until now.

But what is noteworthy is that there is no specific date for complaints, and the Commission continued to receive complaints on an ongoing basis, before confirming on December 26 that the number of complaints had reached 454, and the number is considered the final number within the period allowed for complaints.

However, with reference to the Electoral Complaints and Appeals System No. (8) of 2023, it appears that the Commission does not announce a specific number of days for submitting complaints, and Article 5 of the fourth section of the complaints system states: Complaints regarding candidates for parties, political alliances, individual lists, and open lists participating in the elections shall be submitted within A period starting from the date of registration of candidates until the approval of the final results.”

This text shows that as long as complaints continue to come to the Commission, there is no deadline for stopping them, and the Commission will be unable to announce the final results until the incoming complaints stop.
