, Advisor to the Prime Minister, Sobhan Al-Mullah Jiyad, revealed that the summer of 2025 will witness a development in the reality of electrical energy in Iraq, with the presence of 3 issues.
Mullah Jiyad told Al-Sabah: “The first issue is the Gulf connection, which may end soon, and then the Turkish connection, to harvest about 2,500 megawatts, and all of this can be felt by the citizen in the middle of next year, 2024.”
He explained that "the importance of this connection lies in the surplus energy that can be transferred to Iraq from the Gulf, in addition to motivating investors to enter Iraq and work on developing this sector in light of the comfortable security atmosphere and encouraging the construction of electrical stations."
He explained, "The second issue is the parallel work on Iraqi thermal stations, and the move to build (Al-Kayyara Station), which will take two or three years to complete, and (Al-Anbar Gas Station), in addition to the (Total) contract, the first phase of which may be completed within two years." "The next two days." The Prime Minister's advisor added that "the third issue, as an indicator of the development of the electricity situation, is related to effective work to increase the collection of electrical energy from citizens, which can benefit the ministry and advance the reality of the work assigned to it," stressing that 25% of the current energy is wasted due to the absence of collection, so it is possible Working on programs to rationalize electricity consumption and activate collection, especially electronic ones.” Mullah Jiyad warned that “if these issues are dealt with continuously and accurately, they will be accompanied by continuous follow-up; The summer of 2025 could witness a noticeable improvement in the reality of electrical energy in the country.”
