Al-Karaawi said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency, “The United States of America stands as an obstacle to Iraq with regard to the Silk Road and dealing or cooperation economically or militarily with China and the rest of the countries such as Germany in the electricity sector, as well as Russia in the field of arming the army to keep it under its control and arrogance.”
He added, "The United States of America is pressing to prevent Iraq from joining the Belt and Road Economic Initiative or from arming Iraq militarily."
Al-Karaawi pointed out, “The Iraqi parliament must have a position on American pressure.”
