Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: The Iraqi Kurdistan region faces major security challenges that require continued cooperation and coordination with the international coalition, according to the declared Kurdish political discourse, despite the discussions in Baghdad about the coalition’s exit, as the military and financial support that the coalition provides to the Peshmerga forces remains essential to maintaining security and stability in Territory.
Kurdish sources consider that the vital support provided by the international coalition plays an essential role in providing military support, training, and equipment to the Peshmerga forces. This support contributes greatly to their ability to confront the security threats surrounding them.
Although progress has been made in some security areas, the withdrawal of the international coalition represents a serious challenge. This withdrawal is likely to lead to increased security tensions and an increase in unstable attacks targeting the region, according to what the leaders of Iraqi Kurdistan announce.
It seems that Iraqi Kurdistan is still in dire need of continued support and cooperation with the international coalition to confront security challenges and maintain stability.
Kurdish politician Sardar Mustafa said, “The region cannot support the international coalition’s exit from Iraq at the present time, as the coalition provides military and financial aid to the Peshmerga forces.”
Kurdish sources say that the Iraqi Kurdistan region is concerned about the growing Iranian influence in the event of the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq. The reason for this concern is due to the complex historical relationship between Iraq and Iran and the potential geopolitical repercussions.
Iran has great influence in the region, and enjoys a wide network of relations and political and security influence in Iraq. With the withdrawal of US forces, Iran's influence increases and could lead to an expansion of its influence in areas that were previously under US influence.
Baghdad announced the formation of a bilateral committee with the United States, whose mission is to determine arrangements for ending the mission of the international coalition to combat ISIS, led by Washington, in Iraq.
