The Baghdad Municipality announced, on Tuesday, the imminent referral of a strategic project east of the canal.
The secretariat stated in a statement, seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the Baghdad Municipality, under the guidance of its secretary, is preparing to implement a strategic project to serve the areas east of the canal next to Rusafa from Baghdad, starting with awarding the contract for consulting services to prepare (designs and audits) for the alternative drainage line project for the police canal with Lifting station and wastewater treatment unit.
She added, "This project is one of the forgotten projects that was parked on the shelves. It was revived again to be implemented to serve population expansions next to Rusafa and north of Sadr City, and extends along the route of the Police Canal."
She continued, "The project is one of the important strategic projects in the sanitation sector and will constitute a major qualitative leap in rainwater drainage and increase the capacity of sewage drainage in the areas east of the canal, in addition to its environmental importance."
