Iraq participates in the World Government Summit in Dubai

Today, Monday, a high-level Iraqi delegation will participate in the “World Government Summit 2024,” which is being held in its 11th edition in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with the presence and participation of more than 25 heads of state and government.
It is expected that the Iraqi government will have a speech at the summit this Monday afternoon, in addition to a dialogue session in the main hall of the global summit, moderated by Faisal bin Hariz, Director of the News Relations Department at Sky News Arabia, to review the most prominent files and developments in the Iraqi and regional arenas, in light of the developments. The current one. Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, who is participating in the summit, will also deliver a speech in the main hall on Monday evening.
Last month, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received an official invitation to attend the summit from the Vice President of the Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The summit continues until Wednesday. It is a global platform that aims to anticipate the future of governments and exchange knowledge. It is a round table for the most important global meetings that discuss the fate of future governments in light of the rapid changes. The most prominent sessions of the summit in its three days discuss future trends in the sectors most closely related to human life and the future. In addition to more than 25 heads of state and government, the World Government Summit hosts more than 85 regional and international organizations, 120 government delegations, an elite group of thought leaders and global experts, and 8 Nobel Prize-winning scientists, in the presence of more than 4,000 participants.
With the attendance of more than 300 ministers, the summit includes 11 ministerial meetings at the regional and international levels to discuss pressing issues, and 12 round-table meetings within specialized forums.
The preliminary day of the summit, which this year bears the slogan “Foreseeing the Governments of the Future,” began yesterday, Sunday, and the preliminary day witnessed activities, most notably the holding of the “Public Finance Forum for Arab Countries” in its eighth session, organized by the UAE Ministry of Finance in cooperation with the Arab and International Monetary Funds.
Yesterday, Sunday, Minister of Finance, Taif Sami Muhammad, participated in the activities of the Eighth Arab Public Finance Forum in Dubai, which was held under the title “Designing more efficient financial policies to address challenges related to debt and future financial issues in light of tighter financing restrictions, tax management, and reform of public sector institutions.”
A statement by the Ministry of Finance stated that “the forum discusses financial policy issues and the prospects for economic and financial developments, with the aim of exchanging experiences and expertise and identifying the challenges facing economic policy makers and reform priorities in Arab countries.”
The statement explained that "the forum is being held in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, and in the presence and participation of Arab finance ministers, governors of central banks and Arab monetary institutions, along with a number of presidents, senior officials and experts from international financial institutions."

He continued, "The forum also addresses the challenges of reforming and supporting energy and strengthening social safety networks, with the aim of achieving a future characterized by sustainability and social solidarity. The forum also addresses the balance sheet-based approach to creating value from public assets in order to enhance the ability of governments to achieve their goals, in addition to the importance of enhancing Mobilizing domestic revenues to confront spending pressures and achieve comprehensive and sustainable economic growth, through improving tax administration, while evaluating the progress achieved in the Arab region.”
