The Ministry of Education of the Kurdistan Region made important decisions today, Tuesday, regarding the date of ministerial exams for students in the preparatory stage in all its sections, while the ministry granted 5 marks on the annual endeavor average to enable the student to participate in the ministerial exams for the current year.
An official source in the Ministry of Education of Kurdistan told Al-Sabah: The public interest requires taking into account the conditions of students in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, because the educational process began late in it, and the students enrolled in government schools after the start of the second semester of the current academic year, much later than their fellow students. In the other governorates of the region, he noted the issuance of decisions being taken today so as not to waste the academic year on them, and if necessary, reducing the spring and summer vacations and continuing to study until the allocated curriculum is completed.
He added that the demonstrations that took place in Sulaymaniyah Governorate by educational staff due to the non-payment of salaries, with the start of the current academic year in September of last year, had a negative impact on the educational process in the center of Sulaymaniyah city and its affiliated districts and districts, and the student was the biggest loser in government schools. Indicating that many sixth grade students moved to private schools at the start of the first semester in order to study and continue like the rest of the students in the Erbil and Dohuk governorates. The source pointed out that there are a number of important proposals being taken as decisions in today’s meeting, including a proposal to postpone the date of the ministerial exams for the preparatory stage in all its sections, for the purpose of compensating students who were late in starting studies during the current academic year, as well as a proposal to reduce some topics within the curriculum subjects for them. And other decisions will be taken after discussion, especially since there is a possible date for holding parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan region at the end of June.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Education granted students in the ministerial exams in the preparatory stage 5 grades in all sections, with the aim of obtaining the right to participate in the final exams, which is a factor that encourages students to go beyond the annual endeavor.
