The Iraqi President urges the Minister of Finance to expedite the payment of salaries to the Kurdistan Region

Shafaq News/ The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed on Thursday the necessity of expediting the disbursement of salaries to employees of the Kurdistan Region, noting that the delay directly affected the living, economic and social conditions in the region.
A statement from the Presidency of the Republic received by Shafaq News Agency stated, “The President received at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, and during the meeting a number of economic and financial files were discussed.”
According to the statement, the President pointed to "the importance of adopting modern strategic plans that raise the Iraqi economic level and work to secure the financial aspect of the government and citizens."
He stressed "the need to expedite the disbursement of salaries to the region's employees, civilian and military retirees, martyrs, Anfal, contracts, and beneficiaries of the social protection network, especially after the Federal Court's decision."
He pointed out that "the delay in disbursing dues to these segments directly affected the living, economic and social conditions in the region."
The President stressed "the necessity of raising the level of coordination and cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities to approve the general budget for the year 2024, support the government's service program, facilitate investment procedures, and make efforts to mature and pass laws that are in the interest of improving the lives of Iraqis throughout the country."
In turn, the Minister of Finance indicated "the Ministry's keenness to implement the ministerial approach to develop the economic aspect in a way that provides opportunities for comprehensive development that is reflected in the interest of providing the best services to citizens."
