The Minister of Health, Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, confirmed today, Saturday, that 2024 is the year of primary health care within the government program, while revealing an expanded plan to develop primary health care centers.
A statement from the Ministry of Health, received by Al-Iqtisad News, stated that “Al-Hasnawi chaired an expanded meeting in the presence of the ministry’s undersecretaries, the general directors of the ministry’s center departments, the health departments in Baghdad and the governorates, and the directors of public health departments and primary health care sectors, at the Martyr Darb Al-Moussawi Hall in the City of Medicine.”
The Minister of Health stressed that “2024 is the year of primary health care within the government program in the field of the health sector.”
He added, "The Ministry of Health has developed an expanded plan to develop primary health care centers by increasing the list of medicines, expanding the list of laboratory tests, and supplying them with specialized medical personnel."
He pointed out that "the Ministry worked to increase the number of health centers operating in the family medicine system and provide them with specialized medical personnel," indicating that "the world is moving towards primary health care services."
The Minister of Health stressed "the importance of continuous meetings between general directors and sector managers and paying attention to primary health centers in remote areas."
He pointed out that "the private sector is an essential partner of the Ministry of Health in developing the health sector, and the Ministry of Health is ready to provide all support to them to advance the health situation."
